Upcycling eggshell waste into a new circular, bio-based PHA 3D printing filament.

Print the Planet Green is developing sustainable 3D printing materials by repurposing local natural waste streams, such as eggshells, into valuable circular biomaterials.

The project focuses on transforming eggshell waste from local egg companies into functional ESP/PHA formulations that can be used for 3D printing filament and possible extended applications such as injection moulding and extrusion.

By combining PHA, a bio-based and biodegradable polymer, with eggshell-derived material, the project aims to create a viable, market-acceptable filament for customers looking for more eco-friendly 3D printing materials.

The PPG project supports the transition towards local circular manufacturing by reducing waste, lowering ecological impact and developing innovative bioplastic solutions with practical real-world applications.

Print the Planet Green demonstrates how local resources can become part of a more sustainable material cycle, strengthening circular recycling and contributing to greener additive manufacturing.

Print the Planet Green is co-funded by the European Union, the Province of Limburg and Stimulus. The project brings together partners with expertise in eggshell biowaste, 3D printing filament, chemistry innovation and bioplastic development.
